In 1952 a dam and power station was started on the Davidson County / Nashville and the Sumner Couny / Hendersonville border forming a reservoir know as Old Hickory Lake. The Lake has over 400 miles of shoreline.
The Corp of Engineers owns and manages the lake front property. The lake offers boating of all type, fishing, and hunting and wild life observation. It is the only lake in the greater Nashville area that allows individual boat dock.
Lake property because of supply and demand has always been the highest appreciating property in Sumner County. Value of lake front property depends on the availability of boat docks, water depth, the length of shoreline, and the panorama of the lake view.
You do not have to live on the lakefront to enjoy Old Hickory Lake. Numerous public boat ramps, parks, recreation areas, and commercial marinas are available to the public.
